Poetry Contest Countdown

Five more days until September 15th, the due date for my poem contest. Check out the page titled New Contest on my menu bar. I’m requesting  four stanzas of four lines each about children.

Check out the entries there, scroll down, and cut and paste your entry into the LEAVE A REPLY box.  No poetry writing experience necessary. For people I don’t know, I will need to approve your post so it might not appear right away as I’m not always on the computer when entries arrive.

The judging will be by poets who don’t read my blog so there won’t be biased choices. Looking forward to more entries.  Tell your poet friends about it.

Thanks and good luck!

  1. Playful Children by Sheila Bali

Playful children comb the coral beaches.
    Tumbled glass and
    egg-shaped shells,
    hide in tiny wet-clenched hands.

Rolling waves crash the seaweed shores.
    Sprays mist and
    sun- baked feet,
    sink in specks of grainy-sands.

    A giggle’s heard, a teasing follows.
    Wind breezes and
    parched tongues,
taste the salty bits of crusty granule.

Shrieking seagulls soar the darkened sky.
    Clouds bellow and
    rain torrents,
as playful children sprint for home.

  2. I’m so glad you submitted your poem. I moved it over to the New Contest page where the other poems are.

  3. Thanks, Julaina. I look for it.

  4. Its a fun poem. I enjoyed it. ML Haugh
