Quote By Jean Houston About Stories

Jean Houston says:

“Stories are living and dynamic.

Stories exist to be exchanged.

They are the currency of Human Growth.”

I just finished an inspiring online course Jean Houston offered. Amazing growth and lifetime access to reviewing the course is what I look for in a beneficial program taught by an admirable mentor. I’m looking forward to learning more from her in the future.

Last week I finished reading her book, The Wizard of Us and highly recommend it. To order from Amazon, click here.

She analyzes The Wizard of Oz and aligns it with The Hero’s Journey. The processes at the end of specific points are what I call exercises, which I did and I had excellent results.

Are you familiar with Jean Houston’s teachings? Do you agree with her quote?

“Your Book Is Your Expanded Business Card”

I’ve heard about Canva to customize designs. “Canva is an online designing software that makes designing images simple and is easily accessible allowing you to create designs for Web or print. Canva has various preloaded layouts that you can use and customise to create blog graphics, presentations, Facebook covers, flyers, posters, invitations and even magazines and eBooks.” Click here.

I tried it today with a quote from Brian Tracy. As usual, I didn’t take the time to read the tutorials. I experimented and below is my first Canva design. It was easy, but I have several questions about how to change the font after I’ve saved the design, how to size it better, etc. But for now, here it is without using directions. It’s easier than Photoshop.

Book is business card

Do you agree with Tracy?

Quotes About Writing

Catherine Brady says in Story Logic and the Craft of Fiction, “Rather than reduce motive to a single explanation, the real problem you face is to compound motive rather than declare it–To know how not to know.”

Gertrude Stein once said of the writing process, “It will come if it is there and if you will let it come.”

“Frustration is not an interruption of the process, frustration is the process.” Elizabeth Gilbert

Elizabeth Gilbert says:
“Creators should fight against the pull of Romanticism in their work and reject the notion that the artistic life must be one of suffering and torment. I encourage makers to recognize that when you pull your ego out of the game, your work can become a series of joyful collaborations (between artist and mystery, between artist and peers, between artist and audience). The important thing is to take responsibility for continuing to show up for your side of the bargain.”
